Clinical Meanings of Benign Acute Childhood Myositis in Gait Disturbance of Preschool-aged Children

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: To find a method that can differentiate benign acute childhood myositis from other diseases to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures.
Method: Compared clinical manifestations and laboratory findings among patients visited Chungbuk National University Hospital with sudden-onset gait disturbance from Jan 1, 2009 to Dec 31, 2013.
Results: Upper respiratory symptoms within recent 4 weeks and serum aspartate aminotransferase level showed significant differences.
Conclusion: AST could help to make a decision to undergo some invasive procedures to rule out other causes of gait disturbance, with a cut-off value of 45 IU/L.
